CEDERS (for « Centre de Recherche sur les Dynamiques et Politiques Économiques et l'Économie des Ressources ») is a research center attached to the Doctoral School of Economics and Management of Aix-Marseille. It has two primary missions – teaching and reseach.
The research programmes of CEDERS focus on the role of economic and financial policy in the growth and development processes. The traditional models cannot explain wholly the persistence of development gap and inability of certain countries to initiate the process of sustainable development. More insights are provided by the new theories of growth, which offer three principal causes – relative efficiency of public investment, human capital accumulation, and the terms economy financing.
Currently, the economic policy theories are being adjusted, taking into account not only the transformed macroeconomic representations of growth in open economies, but also the context of the world economy, characterised by the opposition between globalisation and regionalisation, the emergence of new blocks, and economic and financial deregulation.
The elaboration of economic strategies in the emerging economies requires as well a deep understanding of monetary and financial systems. Globalisation and riskier foreign exchange and stock markets introduce new connections between economic and financial developments. More than ever the research in these fields is necessary to improve effectiveness of economic policies.
The research work of CEDERS is concentrated on these new tendencies in the world economy.
